Water & effluent treatment
Intake screens, strainer baskets, underdrain plate and effluent screening — where corrosion is constant rather than occasional.
Water treatment is relentless on materials. The part is wet permanently, often in motion, and frequently carrying chlorides or treatment chemicals. Mild steel has no place in it beyond temporary works, and 304 is marginal anywhere near brackish or coastal water.
The specification question is usually aperture rather than open area. An intake screen is defined by what it must exclude; an underdrain by what it must retain. Once the aperture is fixed, open area follows from how much pressure drop the system can tolerate.
Mumbai's coastal position and its effluent-heavy industrial belt mean most of this work ends up in 316 at minimum, and Monel where seawater is involved.
What this sector typically orders

- Strainer basketsFabricated perforated cylinders and cones
- Filter underdrain plateFine aperture, high open area
- Effluent screeningPerforated and wedge-profile screens
- Fine mesh elementsWoven and knitted mesh for polishing duty
Common questions
- What aperture should an intake screen have?
- It is set by what has to be excluded — debris size for a trash screen, media retention for an underdrain. Tell us the exclusion requirement and the allowable pressure drop, and the open area follows from those two.
- Is 304 adequate for a coastal plant?
- Usually not. Chlorides in coastal and brackish water pit 304 over time. For anything permanently wet near the coast, 316 is the sensible minimum and Monel is the answer for genuine seawater service.
- Can you fabricate the basket, not just the sheet?
- Yes. Rolling, welding and framing are in-house, so a strainer basket or perforated cylinder arrives as a finished part rather than as flat sheet for someone else to form.
