Marine & export

Monel and 316L for seawater duty, with the export paperwork handled in-house rather than through an agent.

Marine work divides into two problems: the metal and the documentation. On the metal side, seawater defeats 304 and eventually pits even 316L, which is why Monel — a nickel-copper alloy — is the standard specification for demister pads and screens in genuine seawater service.

On the documentation side, Mumbai's position as India's largest port is the reason this unit holds its own import-export code rather than routing through an agent. For an overseas buyer that usually means fewer intermediaries, a shorter paper trail, and test certificates that arrive with the goods rather than a fortnight later.

Vessel motion also matters in sizing. A demister pad on a floating installation sees accelerations a fixed column never does, which reduces its effective capacity — our selector derates the K factor accordingly rather than quoting the onshore figure.

Common questions

Why Monel instead of 316L for seawater?
Chlorides in seawater pit 316L over time, particularly in crevices and under deposits. Monel 400, a nickel-copper alloy, resists that attack and is the long-standing specification for seawater demister pads and screens. It costs considerably more, so it is specified where the service genuinely demands it.
Do you export directly?
Yes. We hold import-export code 0304084174 and handle the documentation in-house rather than through an agent — commercial invoice, packing list, certificates of origin and material test certificates as required.
Can you supply to a buyer's third-party inspection?
Yes, provided it is agreed at order stage so the inspection is scheduled into the production plan. Tell us the inspection agency and the hold points with the enquiry.
