Huller screens, de-stoners, herringbone screens and perforated trays — the specialist shapes that grain and sugar machinery runs on.

This is the oldest kind of work the group does, and the least catalogue-like. Huller screens for rice mills, dimple plates for de-stoning, herringbone screens for sugar, perforated trays for drying — most of it arrives as a drawing or a worn-out part to copy.

Dimple and embossed work is different from ordinary perforation. The metal is formed rather than simply punched, which needs dedicated tooling for each pattern. Where no tooling exists our R&D team develops the die, which costs more and takes longer — we quote both before you commit.

Food contact pushes most of this work to stainless, usually 304, with 316 where washdown chemicals or salt are involved. Burr-free edges matter for the same reason they do in pharmaceutical work.

Common questions

Can you copy a worn screen we already have?
Usually yes, and it is often the fastest route. Send photographs with a few key dimensions, or the part itself. We will confirm the pattern and the material before making anything.
What is a dimple de-stoner plate?
A plate with formed dimples rather than through-holes, used to separate material by density — stones travel differently across the dimpled surface than grain does. It is formed, not punched, so it needs its own tooling.
Do you make conical holes?
Yes — tapered and conical apertures are among the special jobs the group has always taken. They need the taper direction called out on the drawing, since it determines which way the screen is installed.
